Hans Trunkenpolz launches the company as a mechanical workshop in 1934. Throughout these years, KTM produced the Fleetwing, a roadbike, Formula S, and a mountain bike, the Ultra Cross 1988.
1992 - 1998
The KTM divisions namely, motorcycle, bicycle, toolmaking, and cooler are separates as independent companies. The Urkauf family takes over the bicycle industry and names it KTM Bike Industries. Within the years, the first E-Bike was made. The company also introduces bikes with alloy frames.
In 1997, Carol Urkauf-Chen becomes a sole owner of the company and changes the image to the color orange.
2006 - 2009
A new headquarter is built for the company. During this time, bikes with full-carbon frames, as well as the new PSD-system (Prowler AT1) are introduced to the market. In 2009, the first E-Mountainbikeike is produced, with an upcoming eRace event.
KTM TODAY
KTM Bike Industries decides to have change in general management. Owner Carol Urfkauf-Chen joins supervisory board and passes the control over to daughter Johanna Urkauf. After serving 45 years in the company, Franz Leingartner retires. Johanna Urkaif and Stefan Limbrunner are now the managers of the company.
From 220 employees, KTM Bike Industries now have 450 and is currently producing 240 000 bikes annually with a 60% production of E-bikes.
There will be a completion and opening of a new bike cycle production in the succeeding years. This means more designs and models will be released.
